David Thurman

I have served as Youth Pastor at First Baptist Church of Haslet since September of 2006. I have a passion for student ministry and missions. I want to help teenagers develop and expand their biblical worldview, equip teenagers to share their faith with their family, friends and community. Plus help teenagers to have an understanding that God's love flows from their community to the whole world. Matthew 22:37-40 and Matthew 28:19-20.

I was born in East Pakistan, which later became known as Bangladesh. I attended boarding school in India, Tennessee and finally completed my senior year at Columbia High School in Columbia, Mississippi, May 1989. I completed my undergraduate degree at William Carey College in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, May 1995. I received my Masters of Arts in Intercultural Ministries from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in Mill Valley, California, December 1999.

I have 17 years of ministry experience and I have served churches in Louisiana, Mississippi, California and Utah. I have had the opportunity to work with children, youth, and college students in an atmosphere of mission trips, camp, and ministering alongside in a local Southern Baptist Church.

I love spending time with my wife Christine. We don't have any children at this time, but someday we will. We have a black Chinese Pug, her name is Dallas. I like soccer, traveling, listening to music, watching TV, and eating international food...Indian and Chinese.

Elaine Holman

I have served as Children’s Minister at First Baptist Church Haslet since Oct. 2000.  The children’s area includes children from birth through sixth grade. Helping children learn about God and preparing them to have a personal relationship with God and grow in that relationship is the goal of the children’s ministry at FBCH. Preschoolers learn about God’s love from the love they experience from the workers at the church and from hearing Bible thoughts as they play. Children learn about God and grow in their relationship through weekly Bible study and other activities. 

My undergraduate major from Texas Tech University was a double major with Child Development as one of the majors. In May 2003, I graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a master’s degree in Christian Education with an emphasis in children ministry. 

I have always loved and been involved with children in church. During my college years I started working in the preschool area and have worked with children in different areas and capacities since that time. In 1998, I knew God was calling me to work with children on a regular basis rather than just as a volunteer. I have served as a Children’s Minister for six years.

My husband, Jimmy, is very supportive and helpful in my work with children. We have three children and two grandchildren
