Our Beliefs
God
God is an
intelligent, spiritual, and personal being, who created, redeemed,
preserves, and rules the universe. God
reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Although
God exists without division of nature, essence, or being, each of the
three persons of the triune God has distinct personal attributes.
The
Bible
The
Christian Bible has God for its author, salvation for its goal, and
truth for its content. All
Christian Scripture is a testimony both concerning the history of
God’s benevolent relationship with humanity and concerning Jesus
Christ, who is Himself the focus of divine revelation.
Jesus
Christ
Jesus
Christ (the Messiah) was conceived by the Holy Spirit in Mary, a
virgin, who gave birth to Jesus. In
the incarnation of God, Jesus Christ, took human form and nature upon
Himself, yet remains without sin. Jesus
Christ, God incarnate, is simultaneously fully God and fully human.
Jesus Christ died on the cross to provide atonement for our
sin, was resurrected from the dead, and appeared to His disciples in
His glorified body.
The
Holy Spirit
The Holy
Spirit enables humanity to understand God’s truth; exalts Christ;
and convicts persons of sin, righteousness, and divine judgment. The
Holy Spirit immerses each believer into a relationship with Jesus
Christ and other believers and seals each believer for the day of
Christ’s final redemption.
Salvation
Salvation
is the redemption by Jesus Christ of the whole person who truly
believes in Him and follows him. Salvation,
which is not possible apart from sincere belief in Jesus, brings the
believer into a relationship of peace and favor with God. Salvation
involves (1) regeneration, in which the individual believer becomes a
new creature in Christ; (2) justification (acquittal of sin and
guilt); and (3) sanctification, by which the believer is set apart for
spiritual maturity and God’s purpose.
Last
Things
God will
bring the universe to its appropriate end when Jesus returns to
resurrect deceased believers and to claim those who believe in Him and
consign the nonbelievers to a place of everlasting punishment remote
from God’s presence.
